I always did things to my hair. I remember playing with my grandmothers rollers and always going with her to the beauty shop. And some horrible perms.
I think I toyed with the idea of beauty school in high school, we had a two year program but I didn't get to far with that line of thought. I went to college like I was supposed to, and didn't find what I was looking for. One day I just decided it was something I wanted to do.
If I was going to do it, I wanted to do it right. So I found myself at Paul Mitchell The School Dallas, which only beat out Toni & Guy because they had night classes.
But back up a little, I spent some Thanksgiving in Florida with an uncle becore hair school. One drunken night, he told me to get my crap together and do something. And the best thing to do was work for someone, learn the business then start your own.
I don't think I was ever meant to work for someone else, at least not in this industry. It's all about the dollars, and getting someone in/out. I love doing hair because I can change your day. I can change your life. The money isn't important to me, its the client.
So Outside the Lines was born! I can stay home with my beautiful son, AND follow my dreams. The salon is attached to my home, this allows me to be baby friendly and work when it's convenient for myself AND my clients.
I hope to see you in my chair soon!
